      Mission Statement:

Community Advocating for Prosperity and Opportunity, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that seeks to make a significant difference in our community by enhancing the quality of life of our citizens in the Eastern and Central areas of Arlington, Texas.

C A P O is a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to provide relief to the underprivileged in the community we serve and to promote and support adult and youth educational opportunities.

We initially targeted zip code 76010 partially because it has the highest unemployment rate in Tarrant County according to the 2000 Census.  60% of children attending East Arlington schools reported that they have been approached by a gang and asked to join or they know somebody who has been asked to join, as reported in a study by Child Protective Services. In a report published by the Arlington Independent School District (AISD) in 2007, 35% of our population is illiterate. The 76010 zip code includes one Junior High School with close to 800 students and three Elementary Schools with almost 2300 students that all feed in to Sam Houston High School.  According to the Arlington Independent School District, 89% of the students attending these schools are economically disadvantaged.

Letís band together as a community and make a difference to reduce these statistics. We have a great opportunity. All of us have the ability to make a difference.

Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Hillcrest Church of Christ located at 1401 Hillcrest Drive in Arlington, Texas.

C A P O prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, national origin, color, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or associational preference.
